Nay Pyi Taw authorities announced on June 21, 2026, that narcotics worth over 3 billion MMK—including approximately 10 kilograms of heroin and over 1 million stimulant tablets—along with weapons and ammunition, were seized in Kalewa, Sagaing Region.

On June 7, 2026, at the Chindwin Bridge in Kalewa, authorities intercepted 5.5 kilograms of heroin from a PRADO vehicle driven by Go Shin Man (aka Shin Man); 4.4 kilograms of heroin from another PRADO driven by Gin Kap Khaing (aka Khaing Khaing); and 1.05 million stimulant tablets, two pistols, and 200 rounds of ammunition from a third PRADO driven by Mon Gin San (aka San Thel).

In total, 9.9 kilograms of heroin, 1.05 million stimulant tablets, and weapons/ammunition, with an aggregate value of 3.021 billion Kyat, were confiscated from the three vehicles, according to the official statement from Nay Pyi Taw.

Investigation revealed that the masterminds who ordered the transportation of the seized drugs and weapons from Mandalay to Tedim are Tun Gin Mon (aka Par Mon) and Thang Sawm Hauck (aka Sawm Hauck), both residents of Tedim who currently remain at large.

The Myanmar Police Force stated that legal action is underway against those involved under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, as well as the Anti-Money Laundering Law.
