BIMSTEC Secretary-General H.E. Mr. Indra Mani Pandey and Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing met in Nay Pyi Taw on June 22, 2026.
President U Min Aung Hlaing stated that BIMSTEC is an organization with strong cooperation among member states without political interference in each other's internal affairs. He also added that he has been making the utmost efforts to ensure a free and fair multi-party democratic general election.

BIMSTEC Secretary-General H.E. Mr. Indra Mani Pandey expressed his belief that the government led by the President will be able to achieve significant progress in developing the socio-economic lives of the Myanmar people and establishing stability and peace. He also shared his belief that the President’s overseas trips would further strengthen regional relations. Furthermore, he noted that BIMSTEC will soon be organizing leadership summits and various other activities, and will continue to elevate its cooperation with Myanmar.
Following this, they discussed the need for collective assistance toward the development of landlocked member states within BIMSTEC, namely Nepal and Bhutan. They also discussed Myanmar's upcoming assumption of the BIMSTEC Secretary-General role next year, and its commitment to performing these duties to the best of its ability during its tenure.
