The Indian National Security Advisor, H.E. Mr. Ajit Doval, and Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing met to discuss security, stability, and peace along the India-Myanmar bilateral border.

The meeting took place on May 31, 2026, in New Delhi, India.

During the meeting, they also discussed matters relating to enhancing friendship and cooperation between the two nations, as well as the continued promotion of multi-sectoral cooperation between Myanmar and India.

The meeting was attended on the Indian side by Indian National Security Advisor H.E. Mr. Ajit Doval, alongside the Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, H.E. Shri Abhay Thakur.

Similarly, the Myanmar side was attended by President U Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by the Minister of the President's Office U Khin Maung Yi, Minister for Foreign Affairs U Tin Maung Swe, and the Chief of Defence Industries of the Tatmadaw, Lieutenant General Moe Myint Swe.

At the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Modi, Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing is currently visiting India from May 30 to June 3, 2026.

During this official visit to India, separate bilateral meetings will also be held with the President of India and Indian Prime Minister Modi.

The India-Myanmar border spans over 1,000 miles, sharing boundaries with Myanmar's Sagaing Region, Chin State, and Rakhine State.

Various armed organizations operate along this border, and clashes occur frequently.

Similarly, India remains concerned about its national security due to the growing volume of illicit drug trafficking into India from the Myanmar side.
