The military is a solid institution tasked with a 24-hour responsibility to ensure national security and defense, and it is built upon unbreakable bonds of life and death, said the Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services, General Ye Win Oo.
He made these remarks during a meeting with officers, soldiers, and their families at the Kalaw station on May 19, 2026.
"The military is a solid institution with a 24-hour duty to undertake national security and defense. It is organized based on mutual respect between superiors and subordinates, and obedience to orders," General Ye Win Oo said. "It is built on an unbreakable bond of life and death. The routine daily tasks themselves constitute training, and collective participation by everyone fosters unity."
He added that it is essential to constantly study and train with evolving modern military hardware and tactics, and to continuously analyze the weapons and technologies being utilized in today's global conflicts.

Furthermore, General Ye Win Oo stated: "In terms of administration, commanders must lead with the spirit of a good father and a good leader, while the wives of commanders must guide others with a motherly spirit. To ensure good internal unity, relations between superiors and subordinates must be excellent. Building internal unity is essentially building strength, which in turn generates military capability. To achieve good administration, leadership and management must be conducted fairly, without favoritism or discrimination."
In 2021, terrorist groups attempted various means to drive a wedge between the military and the public, he noted. He added that some civil servants, unable to distinguish between politics and national affairs, listened to deception and participated in CDM (Civil Disobedience Movement), leading to many difficulties that required strenuous efforts to overcome for the sake of the state and the people.
Moving forward, under the leadership of the government, the military and the public will continue to carry out national defense duties through their unified strength, said the new Commander-in-Chief, General Ye Win Oo.
