Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing stated that if Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) genuinely desire peace, they should come forward, and he will engage in discussions without any preconditions.

The President made these remarks on June 26, 2026, during the meeting of the Central Committee for Development of Border Areas and National Races.

President U Min Aung Hlaing said, "I want to tell the ethnic armed groups. I want to tell the EAOs. Come if you genuinely want peace. We will discuss without any preconditions."

The government led by President U Min Aung Hlaing has invited ethnic armed groups to engage in peace talks under a 100-day plan, setting a deadline of July 31, 2026.

He mentioned that regarding the peace offer extended by their government, any ethnic armed organization is invited to come and discuss peace without any prior restrictions, noting that they have called for this to be implemented within the 100-day plan. However, some have argued that while the government claims there are no preconditions, setting a 100-day timeframe contradicts that. He dismissed these arguments as nitpicking and absurd excuses.

President U Min Aung Hlaing said, "If they don't want peace, they will make excuses and drag their feet. I invite them for peace. We can arrange for them to come and participate. I genuinely want to do this. I am trying to achieve it through every available channel now. I have said that no matter how much it costs to achieve this peace, I will do it. I want the country to be well. We have lagged behind. Think about it. Even when we take a step forward, we are stepping with bound feet. In reality, we aren't getting anywhere. Those bonds are our problems and hardships. We do not have freedom. To put it simply, I want to burst out all at once like a horse coming out of a stable. That is how I want to move. But right now, we can't. There are obstacles. Those obstacles are conflicts—political conflicts and armed conflicts. We need to cut through and clear them up."

Currently, during the new government's peace invitation period, the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) held its first meeting with the Shanni Nationalities Army (SNA) in Naypyidaw on June 4, 2026.

Following that, they met and held talks in Naypyidaw on June 9–10, 2026, with the 7 EAO Alliance, which comprises seven armed groups that have signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA).

Similarly, they met and held talks with the Shan State Progress Party (SSPP) in Naypyidaw on June 12, 2026.

Furthermore, they met and held discussions with the National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA) in Mong La on June 17, 2026, as well as with the United Wa State Army (UWSA) in Pangsang (Pangkham) on June 18, 2026.
