Displaced persons from Settaw Village in Banmauk Township, upper Sagaing Region, returned to their homes on 25 June 2026.
Joint forces of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the People’s Defense Force (PDF) launched an offensive on 15 September 2025 against Banmauk, a town located at the entrance to Kachin State in upper Sagaing Region, and captured it on 17 September.
Following the capture, local residents from most nearby villages, including Settaw Village, fled to areas controlled by the Shanni Nationalities Army (SNA).

Subsequently, the SNA and the Myanmar Military launched a counter-offensive to recapture Banmauk and successfully gained control of the town on 8 February 2026.
As a result, local residents of Settaw Village returned to their homes on 25 June 2026.
According to local sources, Settaw Village consists of four quarters: Shwekone, Alelkone, Pintite, and Seekone. A total of 321 returnees from 111 households—comprising 126 males and 195 females—have returned to their homes.
