It is reported that the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang/Yung Aung (NSCN-K/YA) attacked the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang/Ang Mai (NSCN-K/AM) faction, which is active in Hoku Village, Nanyun Township, Naga Self-Administered Zone, Myanmar.

The NSCN-K/AM released a statement stating that the NSCN-K/YA launched the attack in Hoku Village, Nanyun Township, at 6:00 AM on May 28, 2026.

According to the NSCN-K/AM statement, Rajapeyu Sgt. Kambey from Ranchi Village, under the Tangshang Region, sustained injuries due to the attack. He narrowly escaped death with the assistance of local farmers and residents.

The NSCN-K/AM faction stated, "The ongoing bloodshed and fratricidal conflict among the Nagas will only damage the collective aspirations, unity, and future of the Naga people."

Statement released by the NSCN-K/AM faction.

The NSCN-K/AM further stated that while their faction remains committed to peace, justice, and safeguarding Naga interests, they must condemn such calculated and aggressive attacks, adding that the entire Naga public should not remain indifferent to these events.

The NSCN-K/AM and NSCN-K/YA previously stood together as a single entity under the NSCN-K. However, following the death of NSCN-K Chairman Khaplang in 2017, the group splintered into various factions, including the NSCN-K/YA, NSCN-K/AM, ENNO/ENDA, NSCN-K/NK, and NSCN-K/KH.

Currently, the NSCN-K/YA, NSCN-K/AM, and ENNO/ENDA operate within the Naga Self-Administered Zone in Myanmar. On the other hand, the NSCN-K/NK and NSCN-K/KH operate on the Indian side of the border and have signed peace agreements with the Government of India.
