The Chief of Defence Forces of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, General Ukris Boontanondha, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Myanmar Armed Forces, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, met to discuss peace and stability in border regions and the prevention of illegal trade across the shared borders.
The meeting took place on March 18, 2026, at the Zeyathiri Villa in Naypyidaw, where Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received the Thai military chief.
Regional & Border Security: Maintaining peace and stability in the border areas. Illegal Activities: Preventing illegal trade and the suppression of narcotics. Environmental Cooperation: Reducing cross-border haze pollution and general environmental conservation.Cybercrime: Collaborating to effectively deter and clear online financial fraud (scams).
Military Cooperation: Organizing High-Level Committee (HLC) meetings between the two armed forces.

During the session, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing also briefed the Thai delegation on the conduct of the multi-party democratic general election in Myanmar—describing it as free, fair, and dignified—and shared the current status of ongoing parliamentary sessions.
Myanmar Delegation: Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Vice-Senior General Soe Win (Deputy Commander-in-Chief), General Ye Win Oo (Chief of Staff, Army), General Kyaw Swar Lin (Joint Chief of Staff, Army, Navy, Air), Senior military officials from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief.
Thai Delegation: General Ukris Boontanondha (Chief of Defence Forces), General Chitchanok Nujjaya (Chief of Joint Staff), Senior officers from the Royal Thai Armed Forces and the Thai Army Attaché to Myanmar.
