According to its peace policy, the ALP is on the road to dialogue, Daw Saw Mya Raza Lin, chairperson of the Arakan Liberation Party (ALP), told CNI News.

Regarding military, they were careful to protect themselves and carrying out public housing project for security in Sittwe City, she said.

" Regarding peace, we have being going on the path of peace. Discussions are being conducted. Regarding military, we don't fight against anyone. We live carefully to protect ourselves. Most people left their homes in Sittwe. There are so many thieves there. Our comrades patrol every day to protect the people's homes from being damaged. But that's not enough. We can't always patrol because the fuel oil is very expensive. When we catch thieves, we detain them. We admonish them." she said.

Most residents have left the city as battles might break out in Sittwe and the Myanmar Tatmadaw and the ALP are active in maintaining Sittwe City, said locals.

" If they carry out the security of the people in Sittwe, there won't be any thieves in Sittwe. But now electric cables strung in the houses of Sittwe are no more." said a resident of Sittwe.

At present, the ALP, after collaborating with NCA signatories, is discussing peace processes with the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC).

" Next, we provide medical treatment to people who came to flee battles. Sometimes, we receive food donations from the people. And then, we distribute the food to the needy people. we provide medical treatment every day. 40 to 50 patients in and around Sittwe come to our clinic each day. We provide medical treatment to them free of charge." added Daw Saw Mya Raza Lin.

Although the leadership of the ALP has the policy to provide medical treatment to residents of Sittwe and the IDPs as well as to carry out the their security, she thought there is a difference, on the ground, said a resident of Sittwe.

" Daw Saw Mya Raza Lin might have asked her subordinates to provide medical treatment to IDPs, but her subordinates might not follow, I think. Daw Saw Mya Raza Lin might have asked her subordinates to carry out the security of Sittwe so as to prevent from thieves and robbers. But, I want Daw Saw Mya Raza Lin to monitor whether her subordinates are carrying out or not." she said.

The ALP is an EAO that has signed on the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement and is reportedly active based in Sittwe.
