Food security was mainly important to regional development and if agricultural and livestock industries were carried out systematically, there would be food security, said chairman of the SAC.

" According to the agricultural acreage, it is necessary to grow to meet the goal as well as to plant multiple crops in a year by 200 percent at least. If it can be cultivated, the yield will double; towns and villages are located on either side of the Ayeyarwady River and if the cultivated area can be applied beneficially, it will bring many benefits: it is necessary to promote multi crop productivity." he said.
If agricultural industries could be carried out successfully in Kachin State, Sagaing and Magway Regions, it would support the regional food security, said chairman of the SAC.
In the same way, it would be necessary to grow oil crops to increase yield, he added.
While seeing the regional development discussion
"Regional edible oil demand is occurring as edible oil extracted from oilseeds is exported as well as domestically consumed; if oil crops can be grown to improve yields, yields will increase; if domestically produced surplus oilseeds, sesame, sunflower and peanut are milled into edible oil, edible oil will be enough within the country." he said.
Moreover, it was necessary to improve the livestock industry in each region, added chairman of the SAC.
The SAC is trying to make domestic food secure while it is controlling basic commodity price. It rained heavily in June and July and because of the river flood, many cultivated areas were destroyed.
The SAC is carrying out replanting activities as soon as possible and has started carrying out in order to sell edible oil through the cooperative system within the country.
