Muslims who live in Buthidaung Township protested against the Arakan Army (AA) on 19th March 2024. At present, battles are severely breaking out between the Myanmar Tatmadaw and the AA.

The AA has already captured Rathedaung, Ponnagyun, Pauktaw, Minbya, Kyauktaw, Mrauk U, Myebon and Ranbye Townships and is launching offensives to Buthidaung and Maungdaw townships.

On the other hand, video files that the Tatmadaw is giving military training to Muslims in Rakhine State are coming out.

Community conflicts tend to break out in Rakhine State and lots of Muslim refugees have fled to Bangladesh.
