Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono stated during a meeting with Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing that Indonesia will provide the necessary assistance to help Myanmar become a peaceful country.
On June 8, 2026, a delegation led by Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono arrived in Myanmar and held talks with President U Min Aung Hlaing.
During the meeting, they discussed Indonesia's understanding of the current challenges and difficulties Myanmar is facing, and its full confidence that the elected government led by President U Min Aung Hlaing will be able to build a more developed and peaceful nation. They also discussed how Indonesia always regards Myanmar as a part of ASEAN and as a friend, and will provide the necessary support to ensure Myanmar emerges as a successful and peaceful country.

Furthermore, they discussed Myanmar's ongoing efforts to implement the ASEAN Five-Point Consensus as much as possible, Myanmar’s optimal cooperation within the ASEAN community, and matters regarding the revitalization of stronger relations between Myanmar and ASEAN.
It is learned that they continued to discuss how democracy, while being the best political system in the world, should be practiced in a country's own style—tailored to suit the nation based on its own unique characteristics, beliefs, religion, and cultural values. They also discussed plans to function as a guaranteed government capable of working for the future well-being of the country in accordance with democratic practices.
